Right, so... I am no math genius. I did okay with math in HS, but my standardized math scores were awful. I am trying to figure out what would be the best option for someone like me. I am already with Penn Foster, but also slightly more expensive than ALEKS or Straighterline. I have ruled out CLEP, because I just don't feel comfortable enough. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

As Uptonsinclair said, ALEKS is probably going to be your best bet.

Would you say Aleks is easier than Straighterline? Tempted to abandon SL algebra and find another route to satisfy the math requirement for COSC.

One of the PROS for S.L. over ALEKS is that S.L. has multiple choice questions. ALEKS you need to figure out an answer to the exact decimal, but with multiple choice you can choose the answer that looks most correct. But S.L. exams are all timed, well ALEKS aren't.
If you've already started and paid for S.L. I wouldn't abandon it, finish it out, worst case scenario you move on to ALEKS.

Loved Aleks, ok, maybe loved is a strong word but I was able to start with Intermediate Algebra with some confidence and then started College Algebra with a first assessment of 7%! Was able to work through it and use the explanations to work on figuring it all out. I also used the website,
Wolfram|Alpha: Computational Knowledge Engine to help me as a calculator to make sure I understood.

There are no proctored exams and no finals. You test each time you add about 10% of knowledge. As my wife says, you can focus on the yummy inner pie and knock out math pretty easy. You will understand once you see how Aleks works.

Thanks, I will have a shot at my SL final but I think I'm definitely going to go down the Aleks route. Are you sure she meant pie, not pi?
