Best sociology electives - tesc

I saw JSD's Soc Electives plan but am not interested in taking quite a few of them-does anyone know where I can find all the 'test-out''s that would satisfy the Sociology Electives for TESC??

I understand why you wouldn't be interested in a good chunk of them, as they rely on a lot of TorCC's jewish studies courses... but that list is fairly exhaustive. I'd be surprised if anyone finds ones I missed, outside of traditional courses/independent study courses from other colleges.

If anyone finds something I missed, I'd be very grateful. It's likely I'll pick up a second BA in sociology after I finish this first BA in psych and a masters to be determined. Sociology was my first love.

A bit of advice about your signature though...

First, "TESC" doest exist anymore, but that's me being nitpicky.

Oral Communication and Info Lit have been extensively covered on this forum and on the wiki, so those answers are easy to find. There's a few different approaches, so I'll let you pick the one that best suits you.

For ethics, most people chose the free, uproctored ethics course from The Institutes (fo obvious reasons). Though it's only 2cr, the 1cr is made up in gen ed electives.

Civic engagement, like oral com. and info lit, are exhaustively covered on the forum and the wiki with multiple options, pick the one best suited for you.

Social Theory is only available, as far as any of us know, by TESU's online course, or transferred from a traditional college elsewhere.

For "Methods of Social Science Research OR Sociological Research Methods course OR one Statistics," take the unproctored, $20 ALEKS course. Complete it in one month and that $20 covers the whole course.

For electIves, all possible test-out options are covered by my degree plan you mentioned. There's a good amount, even if you want to avoid TorCC.

For the capstone, TESU will not let you take it elsewhere, that's your only option.

There are a couple more sociology test out options. Tor Academy has a new course social problems that may work as sociology elective. Propero has criminology which TESU lists as being sociology. Ed4credit has Aging and Society which TESU labels as sociology. Tor Academy also has Sociology of Racial and Ethnic Groups. Just be careful, sometimes when two courses are very similar in topic, they will duplicate. CSU Pueblo has a bunch of sociology independent study courses that TESU may accept as sociology electives. Sociology does not have that many test out options. JSD's list has most of them. There may be a few that no one is aware of. Check ACE or NCCRS.

TorCC courses should be on the wiki already, I think ed4online only offers aging and society as far as I can tell, but I dont believe thats on the wiki (but other gerontology courses are), I'll add that in. Pearson/propero appears to only offer intro, not any electives, and csu Pueblo are self paced courses. But definitely good options at CSUPueblo if you want to go that route. I believe they get pricey, but cheaper than TESU/traditional schools still

TorCC is going through yet another name change. TorCC now has Tor Academy which is offering new courses 2 of which may work as sociology electives. The 2 new courses are Studying Social Problems and Sociology of Racial and Ethnic Groups.

I wonder if either of those would be considered UL @ TESU ...:confused::toetap: I guess I could check with them about the courses.

NCCRS has the, both at LL, but of course TESU isn't all that predictable as far as how they accept things. If you ask them, please let us know what they say
