Anyone on here go to UW Flexible Option?
#1
I'm interested in UW Flexible Option / University of Milwaukee Flex, and I find it kinda odd how there's no Facebook groups, barely any reviews, etc.
Does anyone here go to that school or have any experience with it? Do you recommend the school? I applied for the health sciences degree

Thanks Smile

I don't know about elsewhere, but I expect one of the reasons why students here haven't been going to UW is because they allow almost no alt credits, very few transfer credits, and no international students. They do have some good degree options, but they don't seem to be a good option for students who may have a bunch of random credits and who are looking to complete a degree.

If you're interested in business or IT, there are other options that are almost certainly going to be faster and cheaper than UW. If you want one of the health degrees, they do offer a couple of degrees that you can't find elsewhere.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

It's also one of the mid-priced options, meaning you can find other CBE programs for less (some a lot less). They are $2250/12 weeks = $188/wk. Snow College (AS only), NAU, UMH, Brandman, WGU, and UMPI are all cheaper, and all take ACE credit (some for up to 90cr). So to get the degree start to finish at any of these schools will be far less than UW FLex, especially if you need a bunch of credit and can get it via ACE.

Also, some of the degrees require you to have an Associates degree before you can start, so they will not apply to many who have credits but no AA/AS. Not certain if they accept an AAS in place of the AA/AS.

- the BSBA can be found elsewhere for less, with more options for concentrations (although it does have AACSB accreditation which is the "gold standard");
- the IT degree can be found elsewhere for less, with more concentrations and even certifications included (WGU);
- the Diagnostic Imaging degree can't be found elsewhere, but does require a current license in Sonographer, Radiologic Tech, or MRI Tech;
- Health Sciences degree can be found elsewhere for less, and requires an AA/AS or 60cr
- the BSN can be found elsewhere for less
- the AAS degree can be gotten elsewhere for less (free through Pierpont BOG)
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000

 Thanks for the response! I applied for the Health Sciences degree. I dont have an AS, but I earned 60+ credits from WGU (Im having an issue with WGU which is why I'm entertaining other schools). Im praying they'll accept my WGU credits but even my advisor was a little hesitant.

What's UMH? I tried googling but it led me to all kinds of weird results

You may want to do a few searches on the board to see if there have been any reviews, they do have some Bachelors programs, but it depends what you're looking into obtaining from their school. They have Business, Health Sciences, etc degrees using the Flex option...

UMH might be UMHB MyWay - https://go.umhb.edu/myway/home
If you're into CBE options, here's a few more: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ch-credits

BTW, what was the issue you had at WGU? Generally if you have 60 credits from them, you may have "finished" your degree. I usually recommend completing the most you can through alternative credit and transfer them in, then at WGU to finish the remaining courses that can't be transferred.

I looked at UW as an option but it wasn't less expensive than many other schools. Because of the expense and transfer limitations I transferred to UMPI from CSU Global.

Thanks for the help! I'm frustrated with WGU because I need field experience to get my degree and with COVID, a lot of places arent accepting students and I tried to find remote opportunities and that was a complete bust. Im only a few classes from graduating which makes so upset, all that hard work for nothing  Sad

UW Flex's health science degree was the closest I could find to the degree I was doing at WGU so Im really hoping they accept a good amount of my credits.

I was interested in UW for a business degree because of AACSB accreditation, but they only offer a general business degree (no accounting, finance, HR, etc concentration/major). There also wasn’t much info on here to provide guidance about UW Flex. I really hope you post about your experience—what/how many credits you transfer in, structure and speed of completion of classes, etc. It would be a good addition to be community!
Master of Accountancy (taxation concentration), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.
Master of Business Administration (financial planning specialization), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.

BA, UMPI.  Accounting major; Business Administration major/Management & Leadership concentration.  Awarded Dec. 2021.

In-person/B&M: BA (history, archaeology)
In-person/B&M: MA (American history)

Oh wow, sorry to hear that. They only have a few health/nursing related degrees I think, which one were you completing? You may want to continue with their degree once you finish your current one, if that is an option for you later down the road... I think health/nursing field is great, furthermore, I see growth in that field. Please do update us with your UW Flex experience as well!
