I need to take the College Math CLEP to complete my AAS degree. Which ALEKS course is best to take to get me ready for the CLEP in the least time? Intermediate Algebra?
College Math CLEP Knowledge and Skill Requirements
I will need to go through Pre-Cal for my BSBA, but I can take even a year or more to do that if needed. I want to nail this CLEP by mid-June if at all possible. I recently studied a review book for College Algebra and got up to factoring quadratic equations. I'm rusty, but only by about 3 months.
Thanks!

Bump. I would like to know this as well!
Have you started ALEKS yet? I found it to be pretty helpful for the $20 I paid. It's honestly a bargain.

Why use ALEKS to study for the CLEP, ALEKS is ACE approved (their math courses), just see if your school will take them (I know EC does).
As for your original question, I'd go with anything up to Pre-calc. As long as you remember most of your basic math you should pass (70%) the first couple pretty quick.

It's non-negotiable. Math CLEP or DSST, or butt-in-seat class. CCAF degree, ALEKS is not accepted.
I want to train up to pass the test the first time, ASAP. Problem is it's been over two decades since I took that stuff. I went through trig in school, but college algebra went into things I don't recall dealing with (conics, set theory).
It looks to me like College Math is basically College Algebra up through quadratics and functions, and I'm wondering if "Intermediate Algebra" would be the best match to get me prepared.
Guess I'll just sign up and see. Thanks.

If it has been that long you might want to take the Intermediate Algebra assesment first and decide from there what course would be best. Once you sign up for Aleks you can take as many courses as you want in a month so if Intermediate is too difficult you could go back to beggining if Intermediate is easy you could try Precalc. Also check out Mathways and Khan Academy you might be able to get as much help with math from them.

Just to give you an idea of where I stand, I graduated from HS in 88, but I was a good student (made it through PreCalc with A's). I decided to brush up by using ALEKS, starting at the beginning. I took Basic Math, which I completed to 100% in 2 hours. Then Pre-Algebra, which took 3.5 hours. Then, Beginning Algebra (to 70%) in about 15 hours. Then, Intermediate Algebra (to 70%) in about 30 hours. THEN, I took the assessment for College Algebra and only got 11%!! I imagine it will take quite a while to work through that one.
So my suggestion would be to start where you want, but work through to 100% completion. There is a big difference between the 3 levels, but I don't know that you have to go through all of them. Going from one level to the next just means that you're coming into the higher level course further along. Working your way through College Algebra from the beginning might be easier.
The only thing I can't help you with is the CLEP test. I'm not sure what the requirements are for it, so I don't know which level is the best one to go through to pass it.
Maybe someone else can help you with that part? Hope this helped.

How many credits do those ALEKS Math courses count as anyway and what "level" are they considered?
From the previous comment, it seems as though ALEKS will not help. Please clarify.

Here are some more study tools, MIT OpenCourseWare:

Direct link to Algebra I:
MIT OpenCourseWare | Mathematics | 18.701 Algebra I, Fall 2007 | Home
And Algebra II:
MIT OpenCourseWare | Mathematics | 18.702 Algebra II, Spring 2008 | Home
Those are the two courses College Mathematics basically covers. Different courses (on MIT OCW) have different amounts of information (some include videos of the actual lectures).
