I wouldn't be surprised if this were common at all of the big sports schools.

In fairness, they do have the top med school in the country, but THIS CRAP is driven because of sports.

At a recent training, the instructor told a story regarding about when she had worked for a big computer company ages ago. At one point, she was made the head of, well, I suppose it was the modern-day equivalent of a secretarial pool. There was one worker who was way over her head and wasn't capapble of doing the work. The instructor got a lot of grief, but she held the woman's feet to the fire. The worker caused all sorts of problems for the trainer, filed grievances, etc. Eventually, the woman moved on. Some years later, she came back to the office. Crying, she hugged her former supervisor. Seems she'd always thought she was a good worker because she got promotions. Turns out, folks were just moving her on to get her away. (The Army has a similar approach. It's called screw up, and move up, but I've cleaned up the language for this audience.) I wonder how many of those atheletes leave college with a degree, find out that they can't play professionally, and discover their "special" degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Shame on those schools. Other than intra-mural sports, I think colleges and universities should disband all sports teams.
