BUS 469 and BUS 489

Good afternoon, guys!

     I'm on the fence here about these last two courses for this term. I've finished the below four courses over the last 2 weeks.
 
BUS 242 Spreadsheet Applications
BUS 321 Human Resources Management
BUS 352 Business Law II
BUS 440 Business Analytics

     I have the following 4 courses left that I am enrolled in. (3 remaining after the professor for BUS 244 affirms my milestones and I complete that final assessment (exam) tomorrow morning).

BUS 244 Management Information Systems
BUS 325 Financial Management
BUS 376 independent Auditing
BUS 466 Government and Not-For-Profit Accounting

     I have been using the UMPI Class Review Master Thread to great success in planning my attack for the back half of this Summer 2 term after a rocky start due to some personal issues. I lament that if I had started in the beginning with this momentum, I could have finished all 10 courses this term, but hindsight is 20/20. Regardless, so far, no one has reviewed the following two courses for length, milestones, and final assessment completion time/duration in the Master Review Thread.

BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication 
BUS 489 Business Policy & Strategy

     With the Summer 2 term ending on 25Aug and the remaining 3 courses I have left to complete, I estimate that I would have about 5-6 days remaining at the end to work on these two courses if I added them on 14Aug. Those of you who have taken those two courses, do you believe that 2-3 days per course is a feasible time frame to complete them? I will be on vacation from work, so I will be completely free to work on them. Thank you in advance for time and insight.

BUS469 is not a long class. The Final Assessment is writing an employee handbook. It's not nearly as difficult as it sounds. You'll work on more than half of it in the Milestones. I definitely believe you could complete this before the session ends.

Last day to add more course is august 14 and I don’t think you’ll be able to finish the remaining 4 or so courses. Anyways I took bus 325 and personally it was the hardest course for me ( BABA Major management. It was very tricky exam and I passed after 2 attempt. The good news is that( maybe) it is changing to Project final assessment in the fall. I have also taken bus 489 last session and it was quick. Currently taking bus 469 as my last course and it seem quick as well. Are you an accounting major?

Yes, I am an Accounting/BABA Management and Leadership double major. I'm actually not worried about Financial Management at all as I am an excellent test taker and prefer exams over projects/papers any day. I've asked to add these last 2 courses to my Summer 2 term enrollment and if it looks like I won't be able to finish all 5 by 25Aug, I'll withdraw from them on 18Aug per the Academic Calendar. But if I can finish those last 2 then I will have done the 10 courses required for UMPI residency and I won't have to do a second term and can finish the last few remaining accounting and business courses through Study/Saylor Academy. If you don't mind, since you have already completed BUS 489 and are currently in BUS 469, could you go into the Master Review Thread and write a couple of posts for those courses to help those that come after us out? If you would rather not, then I can do it after I finish in a couple of weeks. Thanks.

Okay that’s great. I’m the project type lol. I’ll surely review everything  as soon as I finish 469 .  taken about 15 courses between summer session 1 and 2. I have been thinking of adding the accounting concentration. It’s about 7 courses( bus 352,361,362,376,377,378 and 464). did you take these at UMPI? Do you think all 7 can be done in one session?

You will need to have your transcripts sent to UMPI before the session ends and apply for graduation by the deadline. You should confirm with Jessica that you can send transcripts after the session has ended.

     Okay, thank you! I transferred in most of the accounting coursework from Central New Mexico (CNM) Community College's Post-Bac CPA Program and some also from Study.com to reduce the actual UMPI required coursework to just 10 courses. The only accounting courses that I am taking at UMPI are BUS 325, BUS 376 and BUS 466, the rest are business courses. I'm not sure how those accounting courses will change in Fall I upon the move to Brightspace. But since you have already completed the 30 semester hours of residency at UMPI, you could just take BUS 361, 362, and 464 at Study.com and then you'd only have 4 courses remaining to do at UMPI in the Fall 1 term. 

     I'm not sure how difficult BUS 377 and 378 will be in Brightspace next term as I did those at CNM over a regular 16 week semester and learned quite a lot about Federal Taxation. There was a mixture of multiple choice (MC) exams, Tax Returns completed in WileyPlus, discussion posts, and written assignments for those two courses that gave me a really good knowledge base to move into the Master's in Accounting at WGU next Spring.

     Alternatively, if you have time left this session, you could enroll and complete BUS 352 and BUS 376 now to avoid whatever changes will soon happen to those courses in the Fall. BUS 352 is super short course with a MC exam (took me 3 days) and BUS 376 is a slightly longer course with an Auditing Exam for the Final Assessment. Good luck!
