BSBA General Management TESU AOS

Hello everyone, after additional research I have decided to cease pursuing a degree in Homeland Security at TESU due to the cost and inflexibility of the degree plan. I instead would like to earn a BSBA in General Management because of the many options available to fulfill the requirements. My academic Evaluation at TESU revealed that 60 credits from my community college were accepted. I am now ready to begin mapping out my degree plan to complete the 60 credits I need left to finish my degree, because of this exceptional forum and its members I am now squared away on what it is I need to do to complete the general education requirements I need left, and also the professional business requirements that must be completed. The only problem I have is with the Area of Study Requirements.

Q.1. Can I complete the AOS requirements for the BSBA General Management Degree utilizing only straighter line, Study.com, TECEP and community college courses? I say this because these are platforms that I am familiar with, and are easy to use.

Q.2. what are your recommended courses to take for the AOS and where would you take said courses?

I don't have experience with SL so I can't comment on that but I can give my current plan for the AOS which is courses only from Study.com. Remember you need to take at least one course in 3 of the 4 areas- Accounting, Management, Marketing, and Finance. For Accounting, I have ACC-301 Managerial Accounting. For Marketing, I have MAR-441 Digital Marketing and Advertising. For Management, I have LAS-321 Labor Relations, MAN-311 Organizational Behavior, MAN-331 Human Resources Management and MAN-362 Human Resources Development. All of them transfer in as UL for TESU which more than covers your UL requirement.

I am now going to do additional research on study.com and choose some courses for my degree plan. Thank you

I am really hoping that Study.com soon makes an ACC-201 course because I am nervous to jump from ACC-102 right to 301. There are also a few different courses you could swap out instead from Study.com. But yes, you can now complete the entire AOS only using Study.com which is pretty cool.

Actually, you can complete the entire Business section of the degree through Study.com except for the Capstone. I will be doing this. It's a total of 51 credits.

Looks like we are in the same path. if I come up with any information regarding courses, the BSBA GM degree etc I will let you know. My goal is to finish this degree by the end of December 2017.

Also keep in mind that you can take Managerial Comm (MAN-373) from Saylor or as a TECEP AND Business Comm (COM-300) from SL or Study.com

And, if a course isn't specifically MAR, ACC, or FIN, then it's considered MAN. You need 3 out of 4 areas covered, MAN is the easiest to get. You also need 12cr of UL.

Thank you for providing these resources, by taking these courses I am significantly going to lower the amount of money needed to earn my degree. I'm currently in the process of mapping out my degree plan. MY plan is to see if I can find any courses at my local community college because of the BOG fee waiver, then proceed to take the rest of the courses from a combination of straighter line, Study.com, Saylor and TECEP. I really want to begin with the Area of Study requirements because those are the hardest to find, but my research has led to me finding out that most people recommend getting the General education out of the way first then proceed to do the AOS courses.

For the 18cr in the AoS, I used 3 from SL, 1 from Saylor, 1 from Penn Foster, and 1 TECEP. Initially I was finding it a challenge to meet the 12 UL credit requirement, but when all is said and done, I ended up with 15 of them being UL. The exact ones I used / am using:

SL: Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, Organizational Behavior. 2 are UL. 2 are Accounting, one is Management.
TECEP: Advertising. UL. Marketing
Saylor: Business Stats. UL. Management.
Penn Foster: Marketing Research. UL. Marketing.

I haven't finished yet. The PF and Saylor courses are ongoing but my 2nd attempt at the Saylor exam is tomorrow. I've just started the PF course but of the four I've taken, it's the easiest so far. They consider it a lower level course (TESU considers it upper), so it has no forum participation, no project, no webinars... just 7 online exams including the proctored final. All of it is open book.

A note about PF proctoring. They don't use ProctorU for online, they use the same or similar system as Study.com. This means you run their program that records your screen and webcam, but there isn't a proctor actively watching you; the video is reviewed afterwards. You also have the choice to take a pen & paper test with a human proctor of your choosing, but the requirements are far less strict than with TESU for TECEPs -- IIRC the only requirements are that the proctor has at least an associates degree, and is not related to you.

As far as difficulty for these classes what would you rate your overall difficulty experience from a scale of 1-10? Also good luck on your upcoming test, your very close towards completing your goal, how long have you been pursuing it for?

I started in Jan of this year with no prior credits.

Difficulty is really subjective.

The accounting classes were, for me, the worst. They rank a solid 8 on the difficulty scale. Other people with more experience there probably find them much easier. The advertising TECEP was pretty easy -- I used the first recommended book of the two, can't remember the title right now. Crammed for a week or two, passed with somewhere around an 80%. The PF course is fairly easy so far as well, but I'm not studying for it really. I'm just skimming the textbook then taking the exams. PF exams are open book and, other than the final, are untimed. The Saylor stats course has been a real pain. I failed the proctored final with a 60 after passing the unproctored one with a 72 or 74. The question pools are very different.

I don't really have a recommendation about the Saylor thing. The exams are cheap enough that even taking it 4 times doesn't cost as much as taking a single TECEP so.. I'll keep at it until i pass. Aiming for March graduation.
