Just started this class the cost are not cheap.. 99.00 a month, book cost range from 100 to 200 depends on where you find it. I needed the lab kit and that was 280.00 with shipping.. I took the first QIZ with no book. did not do well so I will wait for the book.. all test are done at home on the computer but they are timed. and you need to know the material. I will update as I go any tips would be great. send me a private message..

Don't forget that you can sell the books for a good deal of the cost back. Check eBay for used copies of the material, I purchased a book for the College Algebra course at Straighterline on eBay and actually made money selling it back on bigwords.com
If you consider the price of taking this course at a local JC or other online institution it is a considerable amount cheaper. Plus, if you take multiple courses in the month period you are dispersing the $99 across all courses. i.e. 3 courses @ $39 each total $72 per course.
I have finished 3 courses at Straighterline already and they were great and not too expensive. Don't expect these to be a cake walk, just make sure you know the material, or know HOW to get answers to the questions. Don't just rush and start taking the tests, using the index from the text is very VERY helpful (especially for my accounting classes"
I can try and help you with more tips if necessary, i know the cost of texts is quite extreme, just find a good place to sell it back to minimize your costs.
PM me if you have any questions about my experiences.

i dont know if this will help or not but me and my husband have a strategy. since we are on a budget what we do is order the texts before we actually take the course. we find used ones on amazon for a fraction of the original cost. from there we spend a month or more absorbing the material. I did this first when taking SL after I was done I passed the books down to my husband who did the same.
I passed all of my SL courses with flying colors except for the math courses I took precalc , calcI&II are hard as hell. I dont care what anyone says about that. For my math I needed I signed up to aleks to complete the requirement as it showed me how to do everything step by step.
as i am finishing up my final courses my husband is ready to begin he has taken 24 fema courses and is ready to start straighterline. he is taking 15 courses with them (they are having the crazy buy one get one sale-even though it will take him more than a few months to complete them). now i know that this may seem like alot but he has read all of the required texts except for 4 (really 3, he hasn't read frankenstein since middle school and needs to brush up on it). He started with accounting as that was the first text he read and he has been doing well so far.
I know it may seem a bit crazy to do it this way but it works. It also takes a little more dedication on our parts but it is truly worth it.

Never ever ever do a straighter line quiz or test without the book. I know this from experience.

Where are you transferring theses units too? I called Straighterline and a couple different schools but no one had a transfer policy for these units. All Straighterline said is that at the present time they have only been reviewed by ACE.

Thanks for the tips. I was happy to read that you have taken SL Calc I & II already. I am considering this, also. How long did it take you to complete them? Have you had Calculus before, like in high school?
Thanks for your help!
