I’m Good evening! Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My son will need an associates degree for his potential job. The goal is for him to complete as many Sophia/study.com courses his junior and senior year of high school to hopefully apply towards an associates degree. Can someone tell me the lowest priced regionally accredited college that will accept the most transfer credits towards the associates? Thanks so much everyone
Edit: I also read the wiki degree forum page but it looks like the pierpoint wasn’t current

Have you checked to see if his high school has a program where he can complete an associate degree while in high school? If that's not an option, definitely check with community colleges in your state.

Hello. Community colleges in my state will only accept half of credits. I thought there was an associates college on here that you can transfer up 45 or more credits for the 60-credit associates degree.

Thomas Edison State University is a perfect target for your son. The school accepts up to 45 alternative credits from platforms like Sophia and Study.com toward a 60-credit associate degree. He will need 15 credits from the school. The Associate in Science in Business Administration lacks a capstone(fantastic!), but every student must complete an Information Literacy course directly at the school. This counts for 3 out of the 15 credits needed. Find some interesting electives to take, one 12 week term, and your son now has a degree.
If the potential job gives him any flexibility(getting hired while actively working toward a degree), he should skip the two-year credential entirely. TESU accepts an amazing 90 alternative credits toward a bachelor's degree. He can apply all those high school classes directly to a four-year program and save a massive amount of time. If you have any questions, fire away. I start my final course at TESU in April and I have nothing but high praise. Good luck!

Thank YOU so much for your detailed reply and congrats on your upcoming graduation. Well done!!
I just had a few followup questions about what you wrote if you don’t mind:
1) for the 15 credits he would take at TESU to get the associates, how much would that cost total?
2) instead of an associates in business, is there an associates at TESU that he could do for criminal justice instead?
3) which degree are you graduating with at TESU and how much did it end up costing you for the credits you had to complete at TESU?
Thanks again!!

Flat Rate Term (12 weeks)
New Jersey residents $3,522
Out-of-state residents $4,561
Criminal Justice also has no capstone! Not sure about CJ transfers tho, maybe someone else can help with that one. It should be no problem for some of the low-level CJ’s.
I am graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and an Associate in Science in Business Administration. I went to 3 different schools back when I should have, passed some courses, but no degree. Fast forward 23 years since graduating high school. I earned my first associate degree from an NJ community college in Media on a full ride last year. I then spent about $400 on Sophia and Study.com. I transferred in 51 credits from both. By taking only Information Literacy and my Capstone at the university and paying the waiver fee, my total cost for the credits at the school will be ~$6,000. My situation called for this, and I think you’ll probably spend around the same, but in a different fashion. And honestly, the 4-digit numbers are a delight to look at compared to what you could be paying and the time spent. This is just credit cost, btw. Of course, there are graduation fees and whatnot involved.

Great intro post with some basic information, it's a good start to get the ball rolling, but you're missing all the requested details asked for in the addendum and template here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works
With even the basics such as the state, age, saved up cashflow, etc, would give us a much better, bigger, and clearer picture of what the next steps are. There are options of getting that associates completely free, it really depends on the pathway you're looking at.

I will do that now. I never saw the template until now so thank you!

Your Location: NJ

What kind of degree do you want?: ideally a regionally accredited associate’s degree in criminal justice but if any other regionally accredited associates degree is faster and less money, that’s fine too
Current Regional Accredited Credits: none
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: none
Any certifications or military experience?: none
Budget: less than $2,000 if doable but ideally as low as possible
Commitments: just being a student and a part time job
