Hello All,
First off sorry for all my posts, my brain is cranking this morning so I am thinking of all kinds of stuff that I want to look into all at once. For this post you can see in my signature I am working on my Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at TESU. Should hit September Graduation and be done by the July 1st Deadline. I was also working on my Associates degree in Accounting from HVCC prior to starting my Bachelors at TESU. After all is said and done with TESU I'd be only shy 13 credits from a Associates degree at HVCC for accounting (unless they take SL's English comp 2 then only 10 shy). I do not plan on finishing the Accounting Associates but a Marketing associates degree is something I am interested in.
So my question is after getting a Bachelors in Accounting from TESU would an Associates in Marketing be doable at HVCC. A large amount of my credits will roll over to the degree for Marketing. Now depending on if HVCC takes Macroeconomics and or English Comp II through ACE credits(I am guessing no) I would need 24 credits unless they take them then only 18. Out of those 18 I could take DSST's for a good amount of the courses I would need. I'd only have to take at most 4 courses from HVCC to finish the degree. I get two free courses a year through my job so I'd only have to pay for around 6 credits which is nothing for a Associates Degree. The associates degree would really only be for personal reasons and not have any real world credit, at least not with any career paths I am pursuing currently.
SIDE NOTE:
How are these DSST's
Introduction to Business (feel this can't be tough with all the business courses I have taken/ will take)
Human Resource Management
Business Law II (prob take the class I liked Business Law I class and same teacher does Business Law II)
That would leave me English Comp I (prob take this out of pocket for summer this year, HVCC didn't take College Comp Modular)
Business Law II - May also take over the summer depending on what I have left on my plate
Fall Semester
Organization and Management
Advertising
somewhere in there take the DSST's/ CLEPs depending on what they take. Anyways thanks for letting me kill some time at work lol.

First, Business Law II is no longer a DSST exam (as of 12/31/2014).
Second, I would not waste my time on an AA after a BA in the same degree (Accounting).
Third, I think you would be much better off getting a dual degree in Accounting and Marketing at TESU than an AA in marketing. It's only 6 extra courses, all of which can easily be tested out of:
REQUIRED: Market Research - CSU-Global/PF
Then, any 5 of the following (making sure you get a total of 12cr UL in the AOS):
Advertising - TECEP
Marketing Comm - TECEP
Sales Management/Prin of Sales - TECEP/Davar/CSU-Global
Public Relations - TECEP/CSU-Global
Digital Marketing & Adversiting - Study.com

I don't plan on getting an Associates in Accounting after my Bachelors. I want my bachelors done A.S.A.P for promotional chances so waiting to finish the extra 6 classes doesn't help me. I was looking for a way to finish a degree from HVCC so I don't just have credits sitting there. I don't want to just test out of the degree as I have time to take a class or two a semester and it doesn't affect me to much. Figured I can do something with the credits earned at HVCC it simply for me.

I totally get it- you'll have loose unused credit and that will make you crazy. I have it too. The cure is getting a higher degree lol.
Unless you think there is value in the name of the associate degree school, like with local firms, then it's doing nothing more than confusing all future readers of your resume. IF you want to do both, finish the associate's degree first.

The associates degree in marketing would mainly be for personal reasons. Like you and I said having "unused" credits makes us crazy. I choose Marketing for two reasons, one I'd be really close to finishing it, two I like marketing in a hobby/interest type thing. Plus when the bachelors is all said and done I am going to have a ton of time on my hands and taking 1 or 2 classes will help me get back to before i was doing any school days. I don't know the idea really came up because I was bored on a really dead day at work lol.

Almost no employer is going to give you anything for the AA. I think AAs are a total waste of time and money whether it's in the proper sequential order or not with the exception of patient-facing healthcare AAs like nursing and dental hygiene at affordable community colleges.
I really like dfrecore's idea of getting two concentrations with your BSBA. The marketing major inside the BSBA is definitely useful for employment purposes, while that AA in marketing is just about completely worthless. Many employers are fine with a future graduation date for hiring and promotions as long as it's around six months. Otherwise it would be impossible for traditional 20-somethings to job hunt during senior year. I think you should consider postponing graduation by three months or buckle down and sign up for the last TECEPs during May term and get remaining transcripts received by mid August to graduate in September.

I mostly agree with you, theoretical associate's degrees are not very useful, but a nice accolade to have and something tangible that is earned if it will be a while before a Bachelor's.
However, technical associate's degrees ARE be very useful. Not just nursing and dental.
Trade schools for example, hand out associates for construction, CAD design, CNC Machining, Welding. And that is just the tip of the Iceberg.

Often called AAS Degrees:iagree: (terminal degrees or aka real skills degrees) vs AS/AA (fluff transfer degrees) types.
