I purchased the PBS Art of the Western World videos. For anybody that has taken this DSST exam: Do you think viewing this series over and over again throughout the course of a month while taking notes is sufficient to pass, or must I seek other resources? I do understand that the more resources the better, but this is not what I want to hear. I want to be done with this test and move on. So again, is it entirely possible to pass ONLY with the series at my disposal? Thanks...

I used the Annenberg series only. But I do have a back ground in the subject matter. I always tell people to use that video series for the test.

It is a shame you purchased the PBS series because I believe the Anneberg series is the same one and they can be viewed free online
here . I would agree with Alleycat that this series is very helpful and would recommend viewing it. I also believe that the feedback in "Specific Exam Feedback' is spot on for this test--this feedback helped me a lot!! I would check that out and look very carefully at the things recommended to focus on.

I was aware of the online series, but I learned that hovering over a computer to study this material would be intense after watching 2 episodes. I found a used copy of the vhs set for somewhere are 40 bucks, so now I can pop them in and relax a bit. Kinda wacky, I know, but whatever gets it done right?
Thanks for all of the info. I am a relatively decent test-taker so I figure that maybe 3 watch-throughs per episode should do the trick with notes.

I took this exam on saturday. There are 88 questions that must be completed in 2 hours. Only 4 of the 88 questions show a picture of art work. I used the "Art of the Western World" book by Micheal Cole (the narrator in the Annenberg series" as well as the Barrons AP Art History book. I did not find the Annenberg series to be very helpful. The Barrons AP Art History book gives much more informatin than the Art in the Western World book. However, the photos in the Barrons AP Art History book are black and white while the ones in Art of the Western World are in color. I should also point out that there were approximately 4 questions on modern artists ie 1950 and on that I had never heard of - extra study for the modern period besides these two series might be helpful.
