Apple updates MacBook Air with M4 faster chips, cuts price

https://www.axios.com/2025/03/05/apple-m...er-cheaper

Buy MacBook Air (Note $100 wink, wink, education discount)

https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-air

One thing I noticed is that the 15" MacBook Air is similar in price to the 13" version $1,199.

Those 13"/14" laptops have too small of a screen for me to use and Apple won't let you buy a 16" MacBook Pro without spending at least $2,499.00.

Best Value Windows Laptop that is similar to MacBook Air???
  • 16GB RAM
  • 1TB PCIE G4 SSD
  • Intel Core Ultra 7-155H processor
  • 15.6 inch 3K OLED 120Hz 100% RGB color gamut, and 500 nits peak brightness
  • Up to 16 hours of battery life
  • 3.31 lbs
$668

I got a 17.3" refurbished Acer Chromebook for about $200. If you need screen real estate for something simple like editing documents, you may be able to do that on a Chromebook while also having a smaller full-powered laptop.

Not a Mac fanboy but I found it very useful for grad school.

I’m also a gamer, so I feel like Lenovo is a good option for someone who needs one for work and gaming needs.

ASUS used to be my go to but they have had a lot of problems in recent years.

I used to have Chromebooks but they are pretty limited in use away from the Google platform.

I got this about 5 months ago for $875

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omen-16-...Id=6571057

HP OMEN - 16.1" 165Hz Full HD Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB DDR5 Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 - 1TB SSD - Shadow Black
Model:16-wd0073dx/9R640UA#ABA
SKU:6571057

it was a display model
they cleaned it up nice
no fingerprints, no dust
I am very happy with it

I have never bought a new laptop
always used, returned or a display model

the one before this was years ago and was a Lenovo Y530 with a 1050ti graphic card and 16 gb of ram
got it for $725 at bestbuy
regular price : $999

I was standing by the cash register waiting to ask the clerk a question
then a woman came up and said she wanted to return a laptop she bought a few hours earlier for her son
her son didn't like it -- he wanted an ASUS Republic of Gamers laptop -- so she returned the Lenovo and I immediately grabbed it

took it home, installed Visual Studio with C and C++, MS SQL Server, Python, Excel, Path of Exile, Diablo 3
great laptop
stupid spoiled kid

if I was going to buy one today I'd get
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-loq-...Id=6578511

Lenovo - LOQ 15.6" Gaming Laptop FHD - AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS with 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB - 512GB SSD - Luna Grey
Model:83JC0000US
SKU:6578511

$800
this is a great price and its brand new
the SSD is small, but its cheap enough to throw in another one or even a hard drive

I have that exact Lenovo LOQ. I got it for 699 on Black Friday.

Put a 1TB SSD and 16 more of ram in it for a little over a hundred more.

It’s a solid gaming laptop.
