Anyone heard of OERu?
#1
I noticed today the article by TESC entitled "Answers to 13 Testing Questions You Were Too Afraid To Ask" in which they mention developing TECEP exams to correspond to courses by OERu:
Recently, we've been developing TECEPÂ exams for non-collegiate organizations, such as the Saylor Academy and OERu, who provide online courses, but cannot offer college credit.
Has anyone heard of OERu? I've never heard of this, and the website doesn't seem to explain things very well regarding which TECEPs align, costs, etc.

I'm familiar with OERu and know the director who runs it. OER Universitas is a consortium of universities around the world that are working together to put together free courses that use free curricular materials, where students can pay a little to also earn academic credit. It seems that all the universities participating so far have courses with start dates, and none in the future are currently set, but I think it's possible that other institutions might join that offer courses by independent study. They don't make it all that clear how anything they offer corresponds with U.S.-style academic credit, nor what the fees are for those who want credit, nor whether those fees vary by participating institution. But, like I said I know the director, and I expect that these things are coming and that OERu will become a better option for people who are interested in low cost credit.
