Anyone have a list of free courses?
#1
Hi,

TESC is requiring me to obtain 24 "new" credits for a second Bachelors degree. I have read threads in the past that posted some universitys offering free college courses for credit. I am looking to take as many "free" courses as I can to fill up the 24 "new" credits needed. Does someone have a list of these free courses that offer college credit?

Thanks!

What was your first bachelors in and what is the second going to be?

I assume you will get very different answers for. "List any free courses" and, "Courses that could fit into the 24 credits needed for my new major."

The 24 new credits have to be inside your AOS. This isn't like getting 8 TECEPS for residency where it can be anything. Your AOS is needed for this question.

Ahh ok I see. My Area of study is Bachelors in Business/Accounting.

That opens it up a little bit, as you not only need the 6 accounting courses in your Area of Study, but the 36cr of core business courses. Do you have all of those already?

If not, the only thing you can do is take Saylor courses; not free, but at $25/course, that's as close as you're going to get. ALEKS has the math courses at $20/mo if you need College Algebra and Statistics (Saylor also has those).

The remaining free courses will not do you any good, as they are GenEd or Free Electives only.

If you post your list of courses for your 1st degree, I can help you figure out the cheapest options for the remaining courses you need.

Hey mccatm, I know you are looking for a BS in Accounting as a second degree from TESU.
I admire and envy you as you have a B of Applied Sciences or Studies, and an MBA from WGU.
But I also see you in the same shoes as I. We are both undecided on how to proceed.

You seem to be asking the same questions and have been looking at the same responses for the last year.
Your only options have been indicated to you as CSU Global courses. See link.

I noticed you have failed the SL Managerial Accounting by 5 answers. It would be best to take it again, and try to do better. Your AOS is going to be hard to transfer into with any other courses other than the ones listed on the TESU ACP page, or the link I posted above.

I did a quick search and COSC, Patten, Hodeges, do not have accounting degrees. But, Excelsior has a BS, MBA and combined BS/MBA in Accounting. WGU, where you have your MBA also has a BS and MBA in Accounting. You can ask them and see if they can grant you more credits than TESU towards their degree.

A question asked, which I don't think you have answered, is why not go back to WGU and ask them to take in your B&MBA credits into their BS Accounting or why won't it be better for a Masters in Accounting instead?

As the title says, "It is time for YOU to make that leap of faith! Just do it!". The schools advisors are your only ones who have the final say on what is accepted. I hope I didn't come on that firm or strong. But how much more handholding and spoonfeeding do the both of us need? I have put my foot in this year and have finally started my baby steps. I can do it, so can you.

Thanks,
