I know online courses aren't very popular around here, but I'm wondering if anyone has taken any accounting courses through TESU and if they had any feedback. I'm considering going this route for some of the UL credits for a few reasons:
- My degree is going to be in accounting so I feel like I should really make the effort to take a class and learn as much as possible as opposed to just "checking a box"
- I don't know if I will move on to a graduate program, but if I do, my research shows that not only will I need a GPA, but many programs want a certain GPA specifically for accounting classes
- My employer offers 80% tuition reimbursement up to $4,000 per year, but only for tuition. Books, fees, exams, etc are not eligible. Courses will allow me to utilize this benefit. I'm a NJ resident, so in-state tuition would be $1,155 per 3 credit class. My portion would be $231 plus books. More than CLEP and the like, but not crazy expensive.
- Taking 5 UL accounting courses (plus the cornerstone) will satisfy the residency requirement so I wouldn't have to pay the $2,000 fee. Since my job will cover 80% of the tuition costs, 20% of 16 credits at $385/credit is $1,232. So I'd save some money there.
So if anyone has any feedback on the courses themselves I'd appreciate it. Or if you have any advice or tips (or alternatives to my plan) please feel free to share!
