TESC PLA Evaluation Question
#1
Hi,

I have a question on the PLA Evaluation Portfolio. The BSBA in Accounting degree requires 12 credits in Accounting concentrated courses and the below are the recommended courses. Can I choose an accounting course that is not listed below? For example, can I choose Forensic Accounting(which is on TESC PLA course database)? My goal is to do the PLA evaluation on:
- Forensic Accounting
-Auditing
-Accounting Information Systems
-Cost Accounting

Below are the recommended Subjects for 12 credits from TESC's website:
Federal Income Taxation I
Federal Income Taxation II OR Tax Accounting II
Advanced Financial Accounting
Advanced Managerial Accounting
Accounting Information Systems
Analysis of Financial Statements
Auditing
Cost Accounting
Fund, Government OR Public Accounting

They have a list of recommended courses/subjects, but you can certainly do other things. And, for you, PLA might be the best option - although SL & Study.com have 4 courses you can get inexpensively (Intermediate Accounting I, Cost Accounting, Advanced Accounting, and Applied Managerial Accounting). I would only PLA if there wasn't a quick and less expensive option available (and I can't remember the cost of doing the PLA at TESU).

Up to 12 credits is $379, Each additional 6 credits $215.

Plus the possible cost of their PLA course, which they kind of imply is required but sanantone has got them to say it probably isn't required.

Thanks for the information. Seems like I can take Forensic Accounting. And I have taken the PLA course at Kaplan and I have already transferred the credit to TESC. And the way I look at it is $379 for 12 credits isn't bad.
