My nephew is considering getting an AA, and I thought COSC might be a cheaper option for him than TESU. But, I can't figure out what the lowest level of math is required to get the degree. I know they accept ALEKS Beginning Algebra as an elective, but is Intermediate Algebra as high as he needs to go? How about the Applied Liberal Arts Math TECEP? How about the College Math CLEP?

Look for q in the Gen Ed column. Looks like the TECEP will not count but the CLEP will.

I would wait a few days until Shmoop goes live with their new math classes to see what COSC says about them.

From what I can see, college level Algebra is the lowest under General Education requirements, but lower math may be accepted for electives.

College Algebra is the lowest ALEKS class that COSC will take to fulfill the quantitative requirement. However, COSC will take CLEP College Math and UExcel Contemporary Math- almost any test except for the TECEP Liberal Arts Math.
COSC will take the TECEP and ALEKS Beginning and Intermediate Algebra for elective credit though. We wait to see what they say about Shmoop.
