Intro Psychology CLEP
#1
Hi,

I want to take the CLEP for Psychology and I am new in the website. This will be my first time taking a CLEP and I decided to take Psychology based on people's reviews. Is it hard at all? If I pass the exam I will be able to graduate in Summer. Any advice?

This was one of the easiest tests that I took, and I really enjoyed studying for it, too. I would recommend getting the REA guide for this CLEP; it was right on content wise. The Official CLEP Study Guide has a great practice test in it; although it was a bit harder than the real exam, it will help you measure your readiness. I posted resources and things you should know for this exam here ---> http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...post136710 Good luck! Smile

P.S. If you like learning with auditory resources, I would highly recommend The Psych Files website; it's linked in the post I referenced above.

Hi pepitico! Welcome to InstantCert!

I took this test and passed, last week. I know everyone studies and learns differently, but here is what I put on the specific exam feedback...

"Whew...so happy to be done with this test!!! After studying for 2 1/2 weeks (minus weekends), I passed today with a 68 (which caught me by surprise). Thank you, Lord!

My studies included:
Instant Cert Flash Cards-I only went through them once...I felt like I needed to "see" the things I was learning. (Just talking about the parts of the brain, etc., didn't do it for me!)
Peterson's Practice Tests (All 3)-Going over the wrong answers, always helps me! (BTW, I scored 48%, 54%, & 66% respectively...)
The Official CLEP Study Guide-59% (I was thankful that my test wasn't worded like this one!)
Self-Study-Researching terms and people, finding pics of the brain, reading through the Specific Exam Feedback, making notes, online practice quizzes, mnemonics, etc.
Learner.org Brain Videos-Someone suggested these on the forum...they helped me, though I, personally, don't agree with the worldview it teaches. (I look at the world through a Biblical perspective...)

There weren't as many "big names," as I expected...though, Piaget and Freud were on there. The test is not easy, but not impossible...it's "middle of the road." Learn what the forum suggests and you will be good to go! (I studied very, very broad.)

I felt pretty prepared going into the test (just striving for a pass). At the end of it, I thought I had passed with a score of 55 or so. There were many questions I knew, without hesitating, but there were some I had to guess. I was just hoping that the ones I knew out-weighed the ones I didn't! I was shocked with a 68!

The exam feedback is really great. Thanks for everyone's advice!

Praising the Lord for seeing me through...whether pass or fail, I am thankful for Him always being there."
Many blessings!
TayTay

I read through "Homeschool Psych" by Dr. Tim Rice to get an overview of the subject. But my main study source was the IC flashcards. I went over and over them until I knew them really well. I also used a little bit of Wikipedia. The Official CLEP study guide is an excellent indicator for this test, and I would agree that it is a little more difficult than the actual test. I got 64% on the practice test, so I was nervous going into this one, but I had already studied so much that I decided to try it. My actual test score was a 72! I praise the Lord for getting me through this one.

Hi. Just took this yesterday. I would recommend keeping all your wrong answers and answers you dont understand in a little notebook/notepad. It really helped me. Then I could review efficiently. Also, the Petersons tests were a great resource.
