Hello,
I am set to graduate with a BALS from TESU next month. Recently I asked academic advising if I could earn an AA after my BA, since I've decided I need to complete some additional coursework (unrelated to the BA) this year.
TESU cracked me up with their response:
Good news! You have already earned an AA degree in general studies.
So my question here is this: Is there any benefit to having TESU add an AA General Studies to my BA in March? I can't think of why I would need an AA in GS at the same time as the BALS.
Also, TESU pointed me toward their Award of Degrees page. As I understand it, I would need to take another 4 (3cr) courses to earn another AA. Does that sound correct?
Thanks!

TESU's policies about the residency waiver fee are unclear, however, there is a good chance you'd have to pay another waiver if you wanted another Associates after getting Bachelor's.
A minimum of 12 new credits would be required. For some degrees you may need more.
If you delayed your graduation to June, or happened to be close, or really rushed, you might be able to add a concentration to your first AA, or get a different one.

Did you ask them what the costs of the degree they said you already qualified for is going to cost to add?
I don't know what value a genstudies AA would really hold.

Hmm...What's your first Associates in? From looking at your courses in the Sig, it could be the ASBA.
Your second AA would most likely be the AA with a History concentration, don't ask for General Studies.
Ask if you can get a "concentration" and not a General Studies option, it should look better.
If not, then see if you can finish 4 cheapo CLEP, Saylor or Shmoop courses for a "concentration".

I have emailed TESU to ask about whether the residency waiver I already paid will be applied if I finish the additional coursework within the year.
Delaying until June is not an option, unfortunately.

It didn't occur to me that it would cost anything, so I didn't ask. He just told me to hurry up if I wanted the AA, before the auditor pulled my file to be certified.

What I need is to get UL English courses on a transcript, and I thought that later this year I could take those courses and then earn an AA with them.
I didn't know you could get a concentration on an AA. That would be nice. I'll ask TESU about that.
Thanks!

By the way, could you say when you submitted your graduation application? I'm trying to get an idea of whether they will look at my file this week, next week, or the week after.

Out of curiosity, did you pay your Residency Waiver Fee on Dec 1 2017?
I'm just trying to figure out if TESU is making/putting a deadline on a new policy *OR* if there is just a one-year countdown based on the date you paid your Residency Waiver Fee... I was always under the impression that there was a one-year countdown from the date the Residency Waiver Fee was paid.
