Does anyone know if there are any other courses (from FEMA, other government branches, or just educational institutions) that offer college credits for free?
It just occured to me that if FEMA does this, there must be some other government branch doing it.
I'll look for info and if anyone has any, please at least give me a hint. :p

Consider NFA credit. You should be able to get a few credits for free that are placed on the ACE transcript, which many people have already for ALEKS.
Here are some links:

P.S. Thanks for your French CLEP post!

I was hoping for more mainstream stuff than fire safety.. Not that it's not important...

I know what you mean. Actually, the one I took (Fire Service Supervision) covered time and stress management, plus being a good leader and team member. I think that is pretty relevant to college students.
I forgot to mention before that FEMA seems to fill up free electives for TESC students quickly, so the NFA credits may not work. EC might have more room though.

As I needed to figure out one credit to apply to my degree to finish it up recently, I scoured the internet and government resources (I am in the USCG) and there is nothing that is going to compare to FEMA for the amount of courses they offer and their acceptance. I went through ACE many times as well attempting to find a similar format with negative results. There are things such as SkillSoft that are available to us that are fairly simple courses but that require a proctored final. There may be something out there but I couldn't find it.

I understand that I can take FEMA classes for credit for free. Do I need to then print out the Frederick Community College Credit Request form and pay for your college credit (per a post) or can I just put them down when I apply to TESC?
I am home schooled and I am trying to test out of most of a Communications degree with TESC. I plan to take CLEPs and DANTES and then apply to TESC to take the online classes that I need for the degree.
I know that I will have to apply for an age waiver via letter. Will I need to take the GED because I am home schooled? Texas considers home schools to be private schools so my diploma is accepted here.

Good luck with your testing. I hope this is as great of a blessing to you as it has been to me.
