Any opinions on the following S.L. courses....
#1
I have knocked out quite a few Straighterline courses, and I like the format of testing so I want to take as many S.L. courses as I can fit into my degree plan.

Does anyone have any opinions, thoughts, feelings, on the following courses?

+Business Stats.-Need it for Stats, but it scares me.

+Intro to environmental science- Gen Ed

+Organizational Behavior- Need this for Psych elective

+Macroeconomics- I've read it was time consuming, but is the course difficult?

+Intro to Philosophy- Gen Ed

I didn't take the SL Business Stats, so no opinion on that one.

Environmental Science was actually very interesting. Some concepts I've read about in the news now make sense to me. One of the things I did notice, however, is that you should pay attention to things such as the composition of landfills, or how the Superfund law affects current policy, because they definitely will ask.

Organizational Behavior looks difficult, but the most time consuming thing about it is reading the material. If you had taken the Psychology course it definitely would make it easier.

Macroeconomics was my most difficult of the Straighterline subjects. There was a graded quiz after every chapter, and I recall there was about twenty five in all. Rule of thumb: learn how to read the graphs. I swear, half the questions on the test were about certain scenarios, and you choose which graph fits that scenario. It was good for training me to analyze economic data, but it was tedious. But I managed to pass with a B.

Intro. To Philosophy was a fun read, but prepare for a mental workout. Focus on Rene Descartes and St. Francis of Assisi and Aristotle, for most of the questions will be about how their philosophies influenced later thinkers.

The beauty of all this is, Straighterline allows you to have the textbook with you when you take the tests. Refer to the text when you need to, and rely on the Glossary!

Good luck!

Macroeconomics - agreed, the most difficult of the SL courses I've taken to date. Very good advice on the graphs - if you can identify all the different curves and what happens if they shift that's half of the exam questions done.
Organizational Behavior - I found this to be one of the easiest ones, the textbook is very well laid out and easy to find the answers. I didn't really find I needed to study for that, just reviewed layout of the textbook so that I knew where to find the information.

Just started doing a practice test for Organizational Behavior and all of the questions are in True/False format.

Are the real tests all T/F?

So it seems the general consensus is that S.L. Organizational Behavior isn't very difficult?

I am apprehensive to start this one because I need it for my major.

Hey Ironheadjack,

If you had to do your math (general math) over again, would you do ALEKs or Straighterline? I am terrible at math and must pass a general level math for my TESC degree. I can't decide which is better/faster/cheaper?

Thanks!
Tara

PS Please private message me with your thoughts on the ways to earn math credits for TESC, thanks and congratulations again!

I'm done!Smile Thanks to InstantCert, Study.com, ALEKS, CLEP and a LOT of work on my part and a lot of support from hubby and family. If I can do it, so can you!
