Any alternative to TESC Capstone?

Due to my very limited financial resources, I am looking to transfer most credits to TESC, enrolling under the per-credit tuition option and then using TECEPs to meet the 24-credit residency requirement (7 TECEPS x $111=$777 plus capstone=24 credits).

As the 3 credit capstone would cost over $1,500 under this option, does anyone know if a high-level TECEP or professional school credit would work instead?

Sorry, but there isn't. The only exception is for the BSBA Strategic Management. The capstone is TESC's way of ensuring that you're able to integrate all you've learned and spit out a good research paper.

Have you tried filling out a FAFSA? You may be able to get a small grant and tiny loan for the Capstone and one other course (at least two courses for Financial Aid). You can have uncle sam invest in you, and pay the rest off. If you do, make sure you only borrow enough for the tuition and books. Don't go crazy and take all they give, you'll regret it later.

Just keep in mind that the grant is no more than approx $4500 if you qualify for the full grant and TECEPs don't qualify. A small student loan of $1000 won't hurt. My payment was like $50 a month and I paid it off early. And strangely enough, it raised my credit score.

Was hoping the TECEPs would qualify but since they're not taught courses their not qualifying makes sense. I hear you on that student loan and, though very debt averse, paying back $1,500 should be nicely manageable. Thanks again for the input and good advice!

I personally would just save up $1500 to take the course rather than take out a loan. But then, I would never, under any circumstances, take out a student loan. But that's just me.

Neither would I, but given my current circumstances I just can't save $1,500 in reasonable time. Was actually going to see if I could get an interest-free loan from family.

I second this suggestion. If your finances are slim, you may qualify for a pell grant, which when divided in quarters, come out to roughly $1375 per payment. One payment should cover you. When you fill out the FAFSA, you're automatically checked for Pell eligibility, you don't have to do anything special. Be ready, however, they will try and get you to take out a loan- you will have to sign a paper saying you decline the "award."

Just adding that getting the Pell covers you for 2 classes with extra for textbooks, which, if gotten cheap on Amazon, actually gives you a bit of leftover money in your pocket!
