I was both a 68W and a 27D. I've just enrolled in Excelsior and I am still waiting for my evaluation. I am persuing a Liberal Arts degree (w/ no concentration). How were your credits distributed? How many credits did you recieve? I'm just trying to get a jump start and looking for CLEP/DSST's to get out the way. Thanks!

Well, I'm not a 68W, but I am military and going to excelsior and I can say that my evaluation was *very* generous toward my military credits. They gave me all 21 credits for my MOS (though those were actually granted by Cochise College, not ACE evaluated), and my SSD1 alone was listed as worth 5 credits toward my program, with another four credits going toward excess credit. All of my basic training credits were considered excess credit. But I'm going for a Bachelor of Arts program with a major, and I had a fairly significant chunk of other transfer credit to consider so I may have exceeded the maximum allowable number of Applied Technical credits. I think they would have applied more of my military credits to my program if I was pursuing a general Liberal Arts degree.
For reference, SSD1 is evaluated as 3 credits by ACE. Excelsior transcribed it as follows in my initial eval:
STRUCTURED SELF DEVELOPMENT (SSD1)
- COMM*131A Business and Professional Comm P 1.00
- HIS*131A Introduction to Military History P 1.00
- PSY*131A Health Psychology P 1.00
- COMM*132A Strategic Communication P 1.00
- POL*131A Introduction to World Politics P 1.00
- Applied Management I - Excess Credit
- Applied Management II - Excess Credit
- Application of Contemporary Tactics, Tech, and Proc in Counterinsurgency - Excess Credit
- Military Science II - Excess Credit
