Wow, Texas A&M Commerce is offering a bunch of free classes for their Winter Mini-semester and Spring 2015 terms. The education classes are mainly for preservice and inservice Texas teachers, but the Computer Science and Agriculture classes appear to be for everyone.

Great find, although it does appear that out-of-state students are responsible for picking up the non-resident portion of the tab.

Darn. I bet the application deadline has already passed. I would have used a computer science course toward my TESC degree. I would have really liked to have used one of their free doctoral courses for transfer, but you have to be an admitted doctoral student with them. I probably wouldn't have been able to attend on campus anyway. The hotel costs would be more than just paying for a course.
Edit: There is no deadline for obtaining non-degree status for the master's level courses, but you need to be fully admitted to take the doctoral-level courses. You still have to send in official copies of transcripts for non-degree status, so do it quick because the winter mini-semester is starting on December 15th. The doctoral courses are online, and the psych course being offered is on eyewitness identification. That would so be accepted for transfer by my criminal justice program.

Sorry, Sanantone. Wish I'd seen this earlier. I'm finishing up a grad-level math class at the moment, but I cannot commit to a non-independent study timetable right now or I would have jumped all over this opportunity.

It's a great find for people who might live in that part of Texas. I wouldn't have been able to take the on campus courses anyway. I definitely would not have gone through the whole admissions process just to take one online doctoral course. Just the other day, one of my classes was complaining about the limited course offerings because hardly any of the professors want to teach. Our doctoral program coordinator has encouraged us to look at UT-Austin for electives. Um, no.
Edit: Even though the computer science courses are on campus, the agricultural courses are online. For those in social science or psych programs, one of the agricultural courses is actually a counseling course for rural youth. I wonder if the Water Issues and Ethics course would fulfill ethics requirements.
I'm confused. This is what happens when I have insomnia. The computer science courses list meeting dates and times, but they also say "online course" mentioned below the description. If these are truly online, I wonder if I could get them to waive the prerequisite requirements. I probably wouldn't be able to get all of my transcripts to them on time anyway.

Not that I live in that general part of Texas or anything (ahem), but the people at A&M Commerce have been nothing but helpful. It might not hurt to call and ask about it, Sanantone.
