Do ALEKS ACE courses apply to a TESU BA CS?

SolarKat Wrote:And an aside about the EdX Differential Equations option, in case they offer the BU sequence again for credit: you should clarify with ACE how they're handling it. The EdX course descriptions state that it's *one* BU class (Math 226) broken into 3 parts - so I suspect you need all 3 parts to get any credit, and that it'd only be 3 credits total. It'd be highly unlikely that anyone would be granting 9UL credits just in Diff Eq.

TESU was giving each course 3cr of UL. MAT-333, MAT-399 and MAT-399 (anything ending in 99 can be duplicated at TESU).

Wow, that's insane, 3 credits *each*? I could see 1 credit each, but otherwise...I know it's awesome for racking up credits, but it's doing a huge disservice to math majors who plan on going on to graduate work. The sponsoring college, BU, even says specifically in their class descriptions that the 3 sections add up to their 1 semester on-campus *intro* class. To represent that these students have 9-credits-worth of upper level study in math/DEs based on this seems pretty close to fraud. In the real world, that 9 credits would include separate classes for things like PDEs, differential geometry, possibly differential topology. I dunno - online undergrad degrees already get a hairy eyeball around Boston. Things like this don't help create a good impression with employers or postgrad programs. :/
