The University of Maine at Presque Isle's accreditation has
changed. If you run into issues with your accreditation please keep this document attached handy. The University of Maine system decided to unify
all the universities accrediation into one, so the school, while initially accredited in 1968, will now show an accreditation of 2020/2021 for some universities which may raise an eye.
The University of Maine decided to do this, to make education and faculty able to more easily teach more students across the system.
There is
no change to the status. Just the naming convention and dates.

In fact is a good thing for the university. I make it more flexible.
In some time it will not matter. Time pass quickly.
Thanks for the heads up.

U of M has been working on this for quite awhile. They're one of the first university systems to do this. There were meetings about it which students were invited to attend.

It's great UMPI is doing this as it may grant additional accreditation to all their programs throughout the campuses. Thanks for letting us know, I didn't hear anything about them trying to unify their accreditation until today.
Most university systems separate each campus with accreditations and some programs have secondary accreditation in addition as well, sometimes it's confusing as their flagship may have X accreditation and their smaller campuses don't.

So far I believe it's just the RA accreditation. It was to save the system money because each campus is pretty small and it was costing them a fortune. There's only 30,000 students in the entire U of M system. To put that into some context, the University at Buffalo which is one of the universities in the SUNY (NY) system has about 32,000 students. That's just on one campus. U of M is really trying to keep the cost of education down and this was one of the ways to do it the Chancellor explained in a meeting I attended.

I could imagine so. Kent and Presque ISle are tiny compared to their Orono campus.
