Hi all,
I need to locate one upper division (300-400 level) accounting course for the major area of the BSBA degree. I have already completed the following:
ACC-421 Federal Income Tax (TECEP)
ACC-440 Accounting Theory (PLA)
ACC-340 Accounting Systems and Concepts (PLA)
ACC-201 and 202, Intermediate Accounting I and II
I can probably do the bare minimum for a PLA in ACC-422 (Corp/Partnership Tax) and this is what I currently have planned in my degree. But I am wondering if there are other options.
Thank you for any help you can give!
BSBA/Accounting TESU (2016). MSA UIUC (2018).
Need help with portfolios? I earned 18 credits at TESU through portfolio evaluations. Nine of those were for upper level accounting courses. My advice for PLA/portfolios:
TESU portfolio tips The first post has the Portfolio Checklist I created. Page ten has the actual narrative I wrote to receive credit for ACC-440.
Using Straighterline's Financial Accounting as a substitute for TESU's Intermediate Accounting I? Don't do it if you are an accounting major and/or want your CPA license. They are not the same course and I think TESU has erred in accepting the SL course as Intermediate I. I made this discovery here:
Intermediate Accounting II.

The SL course Managerial Accounting comes into TESU as ACC-303 Cost Accounting.
Also, CSU-Global has several options for UL Accounting courses for $250 each.

If you have any designs on grad study in accounting or, better yet, CPA licensing, you'd want to take Cost Accounting and Auditing anyway. Look at Northern Alabama for those two.
One other thing- some states apparently don't accept online courses towards the educational requirements for CPA licensing, so be sure to look into that beforehand.

I'm in California and I've looked through some of the more prominent websites regarding CPA requirements. I may be wrong, but from what I can tell there don't appear to be specific accounting course requirements (such as needing audit or cost courses on the transcript). Also, I haven't come across info regarding whether or not online courses are acceptable, but I am not suggesting those requirements don't exist. I'll keep my antenna up. Thanks.

Even if they don't require you take them, that stuff will be on the CPA exam, so you'll want to take them.

Cost Accounting through Penn Foster is ACE approved for upper level credit. There is a review of this course if you scroll down through this thread:
