New TESC Gen Ed question.
#1
I'm currently enrolled in the BSAST in technical studies and have taken a few CLEP/DSSTs. Yet, my credits have yet to be transcribed by TESC (save for analyzing and interpreting literature) Can anyone tell me which of my CLEP/ DSSTs will fit in my requirements? My test credits are listed in my sig, although, they are atrociously formatted.

Intellectual Skills

Computer Concepts (Not Started)
_____________________________________________________________________ 3 credits

Responsibility

Diversity or Global Literacy (Not Started)
_____________________________________________________________________ 3 credits
Responsible Ethical Leadership (Not Started)
_____________________________________________________________________ 3 credits
Personal and Social Responsibility Elective (Not Started)

I see you missed the deadline... Why don't you just have them all sent over to TESC so they can figure that out for you. I believe intro to comp should cover computer concepts but comparing to whats on the tesc website in gen ed courses I don't think the cleps/dsst will match up with anything else.

This is my guess based on the TESC courses that are listed under each section.

Analyzing and Interpreting Literature: Humanities under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World
College Composition: Intellectual and Practical Skills (required Comp I and II)
Intro to Computing: Intellectual and Practical Skills or Natural Science under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World (it will more than likely not go in intellectual and practical skills because there's not enough room. CIS-107 or higher is required for your degree program. i don't know if they'll accept COS-101.)
Here's to Your Health: free elective
Astronomy: Natural Science under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World
Environment and Humanity: Natural Science under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World and maybe Personal and Social Responsibility
Technical Writing: usually Intellectual and Practical Skills but it's required for your degree under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World
Organizational Behavior: Social Science under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World
Principals of Supervision: free elective
Substance Abuse: Social Science under Human Cultures and the Physical and Natural World

If there is not enough room for something, it can be bumped to general education electives or free electives. Your degree only has room for psychology or sociology as a social science under Human Cultures and the Natural World. That means the other social science courses will be bumped to general education or free electives. You also don't have a lot of room for your science tests. You need chemistry I and II or physics I and II plus a second science. Other science courses will end up somewhere else.

I think sanantone is on the right track. Here's how the exams match up per requirement for the BSAST, and what you could take to finish up the general ed core and free electives.

IPS- CLEP College Composition 6. Need ALEKS College Algebra, ALEKS Precalculus, DSST Management Information Systems (CIS 301).

HCPNW- DSST Organizational Behavior (PSY 361), DSST Astronomy, DSST Technical Writing. Need ALEKS Statistics, SL Physics or Chemistry I and II with labs.

PSR- Need DSST Ethics in America, DSST General Anthropology, CLEP Intro to Sociology.

Gen Electives- CLEP A&I Lit 6, DSST Intro to Computing 3, DSST Environment & Humanity 3, DSST Substance Abuse 3. Need ALEKS Intermediate Algebra 3 (2 for free elective)

Free Electives- DSST Here’s to Your Health 3, DSST Principles of Supervision 3, ALEKS Intermediate Algebra 2. Need 7 FEMA.
BA, MA, EdS, MMT, etc.
83 hours of ACE-worthy credits
