ALEKS Information Synthesis

The ALEKS thread has gotten so long that some of the key information takes hours to find. Here is some basic information about how the process works. Lets try to keep this thread short with only information about ALEKS and the process. If you have any additional questions feel free to search or ask in the other ALEKS thread. Thanks to zefrench for all his work in pioneering this method and posting the below information!





A) You must register at ACE (which is great for other ACE reviewed courses as well) you can either mail in a PDF or use this link (I believe there is a one time ACE fee of US$40):

This can be used instead of using ACE Participant form.pdf

B) Then the attached form ACE Class Form.pdf has to be:

filled in by the student
sent to ALEKS (I filled in mine, scanned it to pdf and emailed support@aleks.com)
which in turn signs and faxes it to ACE at (202) 775-8578

Instructions on how to fill in the form:
BOX A: Course name, in this case Beginning Algebra
BOX B: ACE Institution Code is ALEK
BOX C: ACE Course number is 0001 for Beginning Algebra
BOX D: Date the Aleks course was completed
BOX E: Location code for all Aleks courses is 001
BOX F: Student's SSN (I used my SIN as Canadian without any problems)
BOX G: Student's first and last names


C) ACE well then post the course completion unto the ACE Credit Transcript web site, which you then order a transcript sent to your institution. To trully save, wait till all the courses are completed prior to paying US$15 ACE Transcript mailing fee. https://www.acenet.edu/transcripts
Login then
Select Order Transcripts
Select Order Credit Transcripts
Select ACE Institution List
Follow the onscreen instruction to add the institution name
Enter your Institution records office address(see below)
Select Add this address
Confirm the mailing address by selecting Continue
Enter credit card information into Payment & Billing Information

A) A US social security number is not required to create an account with ACE. A Unique ID Number (UDN; chosen by the user) is sufficient. It is recommended that if you do not have a social security number, begin your UDN with a double zero '00'.

There are no costs for using ACE until you request a transcript. The first fee, which covers registration and one transcript is $40.00. Subsequent transcripts currently cost $15.00.

B) The procedure for submitting a qualifying ALEKS course (last assessment at 70% or greater) may be completed completely online. After logging in, select the course provider (ALEKS), then the course (e.g. Intermediate Algebra) then enter the date of the qualifying assessment and submit.

The submitted course will now be listed as 'PENDING' under the 'My Courses, Courses' tab. Once the status is updated to 'APPROVED - SUBMITTED TO ACE FOR PROCESSING' it is safe to begin a new course in ALEKS. The APPROVED course will be added to the available transcript within three working days. Again, once status is APPROVED a new course may be started with ALEKS.

All of the above may be done online without telephone or written correspondence and at no cost. The fees become applicable once a transcript is requested.

The turnaround for processing a PENDING course to APPROVED status can be very quick. I have been able to complete an assessment, submit, have it approved and complete and submit another course on the same day.

Does anyone have experience with this? For EC, is it better to seek approval up front for ALEKS, or just go through ALEKS then tell your advisor you have an ACE transcript to send? I'm already enrolled, but I'm still trying to get a feel for how much I can direct them .
