ALEKS Courses "Expire" Soon

For those in a panic- if ALEKS expires on 11/30/2016 and is renewed 12/1/2016 then you'll be fine.

If ALEKS expires on 11/30/2016 and putzes around and isn't renewed until 12/7/2016 you'll have a lag- that happened last time. That lag window is a problem. For MOST of the students, I recall this was worked out in their favor, but a handful of students finished their course in that window- creating all kinds of technical issues and stress. The best advice is to finish before. IF we are in a situation where there is a lag, you should wait, let your account keep rolling and then finish once it's got new approval- in other words, if you MISS THE DEADLINE, then DON'T finish while they are expired - keep your account active and wait for renewal.

Even if it's a month or more, waiting for new approval will mean you'll finish an approved course - if you finish while they are not approved you'll have issues, especially if you transfer outside the big 3 or need this as a prereq for grad school. banghead

I went and searched because I was wondering how long it took. It seemed like longer than a week.
They expired on 9/30/2013 and were reactivated on 12/17/2013 according to this thread:

On ACE, it says they expired on 11/30/13, and they are now active from 12/1/13-11/30/16.

So there may have been some strange time on there where they weren't updated in ACE yet, but once it got sorted out, there was no time lag between the dates.

Yes, it was about two and a half months of uncertainty for people who were in the midst of trying to use ALEKS for their degrees. It did get sorted out, eventually.

Inside tip from someone who may come here and post himself, but his words to me today were to STRONGLY encourage people to finish ahead of the expiration date..... I know nothing beyond that.
