ACE approved Saylor courses at TESU
#1
TESU has their "open course option" on their website where you study at Saylor and then test out with another method... If the course is ACE approved, I could just add it to the ace transcript correct?

"Third, Saylor courses do not earn a student credit, unless they take one of the assessments we list on the Open Course Option page."

Ace approved courses: Earn College Credit | Saylor Academy

On a side note, how many hours of study would you estimate it takes you to complete a course from saylor or straighterline?

Thanks,

Joe

Some Saylor courses are not ACE approved, so of course those won't get you credit. But any ACE (or NCCRS) courses will be fine if you pass the $25 proctored final. No additional test out method would be needed at point.

Thanks for the clarification! I thought TESU might be excluding them even though they are ACE (or NCCRS) approved... like they do with FEMA credits.

Just a heads up Joeman200 - TESU no longer accepts FEMA credits. Shame because that AAS Degree in Environmental, Safety and Security Technologies was a fun unique degree to add on the way to completing ones bachelor.

I don't recall FEMA credits being ACE or NCCRS recommended for credit. If so, only the ones that were "butt in seat" were recommended.
In any case, COSC is the only option for free FEMA credits - I would recommend individuals planning an AS or BSBA use up those free credits.

Can one attempt saylors Final Exam to see what it's like before doing the "direct credit exam" that is proctored?

Prob a foolish question, but it's not the same test is it? Just without the proctor and credit at the end.

I'm guessing you will never get an exact test from one time to another. Most tests come from a large test bank of questions, so every test you will get is unique, and you could take something multiples times and possibly never see the same questions again.

But it would be nice, wouldn't it?!?! :p

I'm a little confused now.

Until this thread, my understanding was: select an ACE approved Saylor Course>do what you have to do to master the subject>take the practice exam to see if you do>take the proctored exam>have ACE pull that over.

I read this paragraph:
Quote:Once you have completed the course, there will be a final exam. This exam can be used as practice if you wish to earn credit through one of the formal exam options (TECEPÂ, CLEPÂ, NCCRS), but it is not required unless you plan to earn credit through the portfolio option, you must take the final exam. The results of this exam will be part of the evidence section in your portfolio.

This appears to read that you can take any course, take the final exam, and put that in the evidence section of a PLA assessment.

I also saw the email address, but thought I'd ask here first.
