Just received a notification email on this new offering via EdX.
This degree is from University of Maryland - College Park (UMCP the main campus) not UMUC/UMGC.

This probably would work for someone who wants to transition from Software Engineer to Product Manager / Product Owner.

Yes, a lot of people do MBAs to get into Product Management. But this might be a good and more focused alternative.

Financial aid is available. That's not always available with edX programs so that could be a real game changer for some.

With the EdX partner degree programs it's usually available since the degrees and financials are all done directly through the school. EdX isn't involved except for hosting some videos.

I've seen many programs on edX where financial aid isn't available. RIT for example. You're paying on your own. The edX courses transfer to RIT and can be applied to their online degree programs. The edX courses are cheaper than RIT online courses so that is a huge benefit of them.

Right, the EdX credit pathway programs are different than the degree partnership programs. But the degree programs, like this one, will allow for whatever financial aid the school itself allows for.

You actually can't see anything about financial aid for many of the master's degrees without filing out the request for info. Few schools even mention financial aid on the homepage of their master's program. I only saw 1 that mentioned a scholarship available and it had a footnote.

It might not be on the program page itself, but schools generally have a whole section dedicated to their financial aid policies.

The degree earned is a Master of Professional Studies in Product Management. Wouldn’t be a deal breaker if I wanted a degree in this field, but I would prefer an MA or MS instead.
Master of Accountancy (taxation concentration), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.
Master of Business Administration (financial planning specialization), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.
BA, UMPI. Accounting major; Business Administration major/Management & Leadership concentration. Awarded Dec. 2021.
In-person/B&M: BA (history, archaeology)
In-person/B&M: MA (American history)
Sophia: 15 courses (42hrs)
