Well,
I thought the class would open in october, but I'm mistaken as routine.
Here's what is currently posted.
LIB-495-GS001 M. Herrera 8/15
GS009 D. Longenbach 15/15
OL008 C. Hansen 15/15
OL009 R. Otto 8/15
OL010 S. Nevels 15/15
OL012 S. Ryan 3/15
When I was researching for the October class, I only found info on about two of these people. They all list as 'open', even the 15/15 classes, for what it's worth.
Pretty sure I want the option with the class discussion, but otherwise, anybody have any input here? Gonna go dig some more and find the close date.

I've heard good things about Ryan. Only little bits and pieces on the others.

I would go for the person who has the "least" seats available.
They're taken for a reason - go for this person.

I've heard good things about Ryan. I can't say anything about the others. Snatch up a seat in that section ASAP! You don't want the capstone to be more painful than it needs to be.

Three of them are rated on RateMyProfessor.com

TESU students need to start rating your professors?
I do rate my professors good or bad. I find this a useful website!

having a REALLY hard time figuring out Nevels' grading system. conflicting info, etc. I spent the first few weeks thinking he is an easy grader...then got a low score when I thought I followed the info to a T....

just want to add to what I said as I now am almost done and only have two grades left to get:
Nevels is an easy grader. We dont get example papers ---so ONLY take him IF you can get your hands on examples from somewhere else -- and his instructions arent all that clear but, if you can write fairly well, you should do ok. He seems to really be looking for "scholarly sounding" writing.

I highly recommend that if someone doesn't know what scholarly writing is, review the APA examples on the Purdue OWL website. It gives great examples. Nothing should be in the first person. Everything should be cited properly -whether it is a quote, paraphrase or idea. I think Nina Haydel (the creator of the course) has written a good explanation on this. Your paper, aside from the intro and conclusion should include paragraphs where a quote or paraphrase is used in every single paragraph. No more than 10% of the paper should be quotes. Follow the module directions very carefully. They give you all the headings you need to use so make sure you structure your paper exactly as it says.
My personal opinion is that what you are being graded on is:
1. The proper use of APA style
2. The ability to adequately research a topic
The mentors seem to knock off more points for not following APA style than for anything else. Most students in my course indicated that when they had problems, it was always because they messed up on the APA format - either they didn't cite properly or they messed up their references. This especially was problematic in Module 2. So make sure you pay extra attention, especially on that module to your APA writing style.
