In my opinion, edx is the very best platform for distance courses.
I have completed two now-defunct differential equations courses via Boston University and MITx's Intro. to Economics. These were the toughest classes that I have taken online and - in my opinion - they are equal in rigor to courses that would be taken on each university's campus. I graduated from Michigan, so I think that I can say this with some degree of authority.
These courses do not normally translate into actual credit on a transcript. However, I think that a micromasters on the platform would be very much worthwhile.

I just found out it is good to purchase one class because it has expiration time. Lucky I was reading the fine print.

It is working on all the ones I have tried including MITx. I am logged into my edX.org account - then choose MicroMasters Program from the 'Programs and Degrees' drop down list, choose a MicroMasters Program (any of them) and then click the Pursue the Program button - which puts it in the cart, and I enter the code/apply and it is working. I wonder if this is not open to all? Do you get an error on the coupon code?
EDIT: Found the fine print, so it should work on the MITx MicroMasters - "Offer valid until 6/05/19 at 11:59pm EDT and not eligible for Analytics: Essential Tools and Methods MicroMasters

I did the income verification with MITx and their data/economics/development program. I qualified for $500 per class pricing. I logged in via that program and there is no box for any coupon code. It might be specific to that program.
