No, I'm not talking about the temperature, I'm talking about this story of a man who (allegedly) earned 145 university degrees. Maybe I'm being overly skeptical, but I'm just not buying it.

I'm calling BS. How is he getting degrees from Yale, Stanford, Princeton, and Columbia at the same time? How would he afford that? Many colleges won't allow you to be enrolled at multiple schools at the same time. He quit his job so how on earth is he paying tuition at those schools? They're not exactly $100 per credit. These schools also don't have huge online programs.
Is this website the National Enquirer of India? I don't buy this story at all. There's no way he completed 145 degrees at the same time like the article states.

I'm wondering if it got lost in translation. I'm betting it's 145 certificates/courses completed. Not degrees.

I think you're right. I'm also betting that at least some of these are from places like edX or Coursera where the tuition is cheap but you can get a certificate after completing what is, essentially, an ordinary university-level course.

based on the wording of the article, "degree courses," i'm going to third what ashkir is saying. Sounds like 145 credit-bearing courses completed. Impressive, but much different.

I hope that comes from ignorance, rather than an outright attempt at fraud.
