Degree Questions
#1
Good Afternoon, I read a bunch of content and I guess I want validation/verification before I start on my journey in some aspect or another.

First thing first....

Your Location: North Carolina
Your Age:35
What kind of degree do you want?: Not leaning one way or another, I was looking at liberal arts/studies with a minor in project management
Current Regional Accredited Credits: I have some Gen Ed credits, and criminal justice from a long time ago. But for the ease of life lets say 0
Budget: 35 year old, i've done well in my life. So not stressed about money
Commitments: I travel for work acting as a Project Manager. I do plan review, but have a lot of down time in hotels
Dedicated time to study: I would say 4-5 hours a day, weekends all day. No kids.
Timeline: Honestly no Timeline, but i'm a big pusher just to get things over with. I don't procrastinate till i'm almost done with something lol.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I haven't looked in to it.

Little more about myself, I was a Property Manager for 5 years, Project Manager for 10, then currently I have a odd role that I work under a architect and engineer doing plan review and acting as project manager. I prefer to follow a guide. I dont mind writing and or test taking. ( Does anyone else have any other guides that have ran across that they like? I was thinking UMPI and or WGU? Other schools work for me too) I honestly have never liked school, so I'm honestly just looking for a piece of paper. I'm sick of being asked do I have a degree and saying no....people who have seen my work are impressed but it's always that little bird in the back of my head chirping going you suck lol. So any advice and or assistance would be amazing. I'm sure you guys get a lot of request asking for guides but I did look around and if you have any that stand our thats perfectly fine. For myself i'm just wanting the paper nothing more.

Thank you again Smile

I've looked around at a few websites, like plottedpath. But I honestly rather stay with Sophia and study before I move to a university. I was looking at the info below. Inculding but other items as well:

Welcome to the board, great intro post with addendum and template, you should do the UMPI BLS with PM minor, you can always add a second minor if you wanted and/or add the 3-4 classes that can go towards the MAOL later. Just a note, UMPI requires all transcripts to be submitted, so you won't be at 0...

Even if those classes are in electives, it'll still transfer over as long as the letter grade is high enough, otherwise it won't transfer over. I suggest reviewing the UMPI WIKI to see what the 3-4 MAOL classes are and the UMPI Links to see the general education requirements and what degree plans are available.

Since the business degree takes a similar amount of time as liberal studies, I recommend doing a business degree since that is your career.

Thank you for the info, on that page some segments dictate duplicate what does that mean? And how is Courseravs Sophia and study?

Duplicate: You can use a single course to fulfill multiple requirements, especially for general education.

You will want to maximize usage of Sophia, then use Study.com as needed. Sophia tends to be faster and easier than Study.

You will need to take a minimum of 30 credits (10 courses) at UMPI.

Simple question, simple answer. No double dipping or overlapping at all for any institution we recommend, thus, you have to take something different in the electives area, I suggest the cheap, easy, fast... Even though COSC/UMPI allows double dipping/overlap of requirements, the number of credits are never overlapped.

Many people keep asking this question, it's complex for transfers, but really simple when you grasp the concept... In brief, you have to complete 40+ classes to get 120 credits. That's why I tell people to create a spreadsheet, make sure to have 120+ credits in the correct transfer fields, and complete them like a shopping list.

Just because a class can complete multiple requirements, it doesn't add to the number of credits in total. A 3 credit class can't be 6 or 9 credits because it completes or overlaps another. You just need to make sure your requirements are met, the total credits are met, and upper level requirements are also met.

Thank you everyone, I think I sorta want to just stay on Sophia and Study.com. It allows me to be self paced for the most part as work can be crazy at times, and I do like to move at my own pace either faster or slower at times.
I was just thinking about doing this? Below.... any other suggestions on a guide like this and or anything I should be careful about following this?

If looking at UMPI

Microbiology at Sophia also comes in as upper level, as BIO 316.

Other simple classes at UMPI include MAT 140, BUS 200 if you need more residency credits. The political science classes also have several short options like POS 301 European Gov and EU, POS 211 Intro to Political Thought, POS 343 Marxism & POS 335 Modern Political Thought. For history, HTY 489 Infectious Disease and HTY 370 Arab-Israeli Conflict are also short.
