Trouble logging in to take DSST test!!!! Panic!!
Posted by: Aubs - 10-18-2011, 03:33 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (11)

Last Wednesday, I went in to take the World Religions DSST test. It had been over a year since my last DSST test and I completely forgot that I needed my username and password. I tried doing many combinations but nothing worked.

The proctor had to call the DSST test center, they had to talk to me, get my social security number and put me on hold for TEN MINUTES until finally giving me my username and e-mail address so I could log in.

I went to log in...it didn't work. I reset my password...it didn't work. I reset it again...it didn't work. I kept typing thinking that maybe I was doing something wrong and FINALLY got in! I sat down to my test AN ENTIRE HOUR LATER.

So. I now know my username and password without a doubt!

I go to sign in at home on the prometric site to see my test scores....and voila!! I'm having the same problems signing in!!!

Is anyone else having this problem?? Because I REALLY don't want to go through all of that again every time I want to take a DSST test!

Anyone with Experience with Proctor U?
Posted by: marianne202 - 10-18-2011, 09:36 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

I just got word that my new program endeavor will allow me to challenge out of a few courses for $500 an exam and it is done through Proctor U. I have never heard of them and I'm wondering how they work? Is it an online proctoring service or in-person like Pearson Vue or Prometric. I ask because the school is in Missouri and I'm in NC and I have never seen or heard of Proctor U. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm working hard on some less expensive, easier options, but I want to fully understand how their system works. I know that they will give me a syllabus and book info, then I have 1 week to take the exam. The exam is a mid-term and final taken at the same time and I have to get 85% on both exams to get the course credit. This seems pretty steep to me, so I'm trying to find some local options. Any info on Proctor U?

Transfering to TESC with 60 credits- Financial Aid and Enrollment Question
Posted by: trailblazer75 - 10-17-2011, 11:40 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (1)

Hi all! I'm new here and I look forward to contributing. This forum's presense makes me feel like half my battle is won! 2.5 years ago I enrolled at Western Gov. Unv. There I earned 60 credits toward my B.S in Human Res. Now, my plans have changed and I want to obtain a certification in neurofeedback that requires my degree be in Psych at minimum. I want to obtain my Psych B.A. from TESC and I have many questions...too many to post in 1 so I will try to make them specific. Thanks so very much in advance. I promise to pay it forward once I become well versed in this process myself as all of you have.

I need to do things as quickly and cheaply as possible. My husband was wounded in Iraq 2 years ago and now disabled...but not quite at 100% which disquals me for edu assistance. I HAVE to get my degree so I can earn more money.....same story as everyone I suppose.

I have approx. $24k in edu debt. Should I disenroll from WGU and start paying back the debt now? If I do this, I can stop accumulating debt and pay as I go and accumulate credits where/as quickly as possible.

OR transfer now...I saw they have a wounded warrior scholarship for military spouses and I also get 80%/up to $5300 annual reimbursement from my employer BUT I've pocketed this money in the past because we needed the money so badly and I'm uncertain of how much $$ the scholarship offers.

Will TESC look at my earned credits and tell me where I stand so I will know what I've satsfied so far toward my new degree requirements? I did see a TESC Psych Roadmap but I'm not sure if it's up to date and unsure how to see which courses Ive taken would apply toward my requirements. ANY feedback is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Is there a list of which TESC courses CLEP and DSST tests are the equivelant?
Posted by: justlearning123 - 10-17-2011, 10:58 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (2)

The TESC page simply says "The College also accepts credit earned from other testing programs, such as CLEP and DSST." Is there a lookup to see which courses the tests are the equivalents of? Straighterline has a page that shows which TESC courses their courses can be used in place of, but I haven't been able to find one for CLEP or DSST.

Transfer 121 credits into TESC BSAST program?
Posted by: terryd5150 - 10-17-2011, 10:46 PM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - Replies (1)

I currently have 121 credits in Mechanical Engineering Technology from a local state univeristy (RA/ABET). Due to a change in my employment situation, I can't complete the last 3 credits (senior design project) as my current work schedule prevents me from attending and completing the final course (there is no DL option).

My current employer is expanding operations and will be creating several new positions. I HAVE to have my degree completed to be considered for any of the new positions.

I have reviewed my current transcripts vs. the TESC BSAST MET program and I have all the requirements met.

Has anyone simply transferred credits and graduated or is there a minimum number that I will HAVE to get from TESC?

P.S

I am aware of the cons of taking this route (No TESC GPA for grad school/ Non-ABET), but in this case those don't really apply as I can provide transcripts from my state university showing a satisfactory GPA over 121 credits and their program is ABET accredited. Also, the only restriction from my employer is the degree must be RA.

Just passed Rise and Fall Soviet Union
Posted by: hts9 - 10-17-2011, 09:29 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

Just passed Rise and Fall Soviet Union today.

Passed with a 60 !

2 weeks of study, 2-3 hours a day.

Used IC, ran thru it 5 times, I would do 1 section then watch related videos on You Tube and Yahoo to tie it all together. The videos really helped.

In addition I ran thru the threads posted on this site, the one noted below contains the most info.

http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...ughts.html

Thank you for all who have posted about the Rise and Fall.

I was nervous about taking this test, but really, it was not that bad.

  ETS Profiency Profile Test
Posted by: nleamons - 10-17-2011, 11:16 AM - Forum: [ARCHIVE] Excelsior, Thomas Edison, and Charter Oak Specific Discussion - No Replies

I will be taking the ETS Profiency Profile Test sometime next week. It would great if any of the previous test takers of this test could recommend study resources that will be useful in preparing for this test. Even though the test itself is not worth that much in my grades, the studying will be beneficial for my anticipated future prepartion for the GRE exam.
