minimum math at the big three?
#1
what is the minimum math required at each of the big three? I know at excelsior I had to take statistics for my major but I dont know if they would have taken just college math for a liberal studies degree.

At TESC statistics is required for a liberal arts degree and precalculcus is required for a business degree.

How come everyone keeps saying this? It's not just you farmerboy, really I read this here all the time!

For TESC (unless your MAJOR says otherwise) you only need a 100 level math. I used MAT105 Mathematics for Liberal Arts. Statistics is NOT required, and neither is algebra! (again, unless your specific major requires it, all course distributions are available at the TESC website under academic programs. Thomas Edison State College)

Also, at TESC, there is a little lesser known degree path which is business-ish called Organizational Leadership. NO STATS, NO PRE-CALC. You won't find it listed on all of their pages, specifically search for it under the 100 things you can study hyperlink.

Can you tell me where you took MAT105? Was it at TESC or maybe Penn Foster or somewhere else?

Thanks!

Sorry!!:o I think I am confusing a degree in history with a straight up liberal arts degree. Thanks for the correction.

You can get your history degree and/or liberal arts degree at TESC without statistics or algebra. Neither is required. Without checking, I am pretty sure the psychology major (BA) does require statistics, but that is in the major- not as a gen ed requirement.

Onmyway is right, my MAT105 was taken at TESC. The hardest part was parting with $$$$$ to buy the books- otherwise is was a very nice math. Only the smallest amount of algebra mixed in with a bit of business math and a bit of consumer math. (I did find it annoying to type out my work- since I had to "show my work" on everything- but that didn't have anything to do with the level of difficulty)
