DSST vs CLEP what is your test of choice?

I have yet to take a Dantes but have enjoyed my CLEP tests. My local military test center still gives paper version Dantes. Do you have a preference of test? Why? Thank you for your inputWink

Hi 4dkids,

Well, I've taken 24 DANTES exams and I can honestly say it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
hilarious

The problem with your question is that what one person finds fun, another may find burdensome; what one person finds easy, another may find hard.

So take any responses you get with a grain of salt, K?

I preferred the following because I found them to be among the easiest exams:

Principles of Supervision
Organizational Behavior
Management Information Systems (easiest upper level exam)
Intro to Law Enforcement
Intro to Computing
Intro to Business
Human Resource Management
Criminal Justice
Lifespan Development Psychology

I preferred the following because the material was the most interesting to ME PERSONALLY:

General Anthropology
Civil War
Rise & Fall of the Soviet Union
History of the Vietnam War
Modern Middle East
Lifespan Development Psychology
Fundamentals of Counseling

The following were my least preferred exams:

Business Law II (not enough study resources)
Drug & Alcohol Abuse (boring material)
Environment & Humanity (boring material)
Here's to Your Health (boring material)
Money & Banking (boring material and a very hard exam)
Principles of Finance (very hard exam)
Principles of Statistics (I just about had a brain aneurysm trying to study for this one)

The truth is, regardless of whether I enjoyed an exam or hated it, found it boring or intriguing, stressful or a breeze, I got A's on every single DANTES exam I took. So every exam is doable with enough preparation and study.

I hope that helps,

As Snazz stated, it comes down to personal preference.

My knee-jerk reaction is to say Dantes. My testing center doesn't have the computer versions so I take the paper tests. I like not having a time limit. I never realized how much of a stress factor the time limit has become to me when testing, which is how it is for CLEP tests. Another thing about the paper Dantes that I find relaxing is filling in the bubbles. It's like coloring to me. hilarious

i personally prefer the instant gratification method of the CLEP but as for scoring better, I believe the DSSTs are good since I can take 2 a day.

CLEP CBT based (instant results) are great for the immediate payoff, yet the paper-based DANTES have the appeal of a virtual "no-time-limit" benefit that can in some cases be both a blessing and a hindrance. In the end, I would lean towards a computer version just to get my results and move on without distraction.
