Advice needed - transferring AAS to Bachelors
#1
Hey guys, newbie here. I have an AAS in Multimedia Web Design from a Dallas college (2007). I have a few extra credits in programming and such, and a few Microsoft certs. I am now working for a fire dept., and hold Texas Fire certs including Fire inspector, fire investigator and a Peace officer license.

Given all of that, what in your opinion would be my shortest route to a bachelors degree? I am afraid that not have the degree will hold me back in future job opportunities.

Thanks.

Below are my college credits. I will also list all of the certifications I can think of.

OK, I guess I answered my own question. I took a look at Excelsior's BS in Liberal Arts, and it looks like pretty much all my community college credits will transfer. I made an excel sheet showing what I need to finish.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

It's not the cheapest of the big 3, but that is the most "Flexible degree" (build it yourself) of the three. There are some college BAS degrees that cater to AAS degrees at other colleges, but you would have to do their fixed plans and 30+ credits with them.

You can probably also look at COSC.

In looking at your credits, I can't figure out where most of them would fit well into a TESU degree that I know well enough to give advice on. Plus, they take no certs or FEMA courses at all. So they're probably not the best fit for you.

Make sure if you apply to EC that you use the POAG discount. It saves you a bundle. Otherwise, I think EC is too expensive, even if they take more of your credits (their normal price for a degree is more than if you started at TESU with 0 credits).

+1 on that.

Is time or money your #1 enemy?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the POAG?

Peace Officer's Association of Georgia (poag.org)

I think it's like $25 to sign up as an associate member, and then get the discount pricing at EC.
